This easy sausage manicotti bake is everything you love about slow-cooked Italian comfort food, but made convenient and fast enough for a weeknight supper using jarred Alfredo and marinara sauces, pre-cooked Italian chicken sausage, and string cheese.
Ingredient :
- 1 package of manicotti pasta
- 1 pound of Italian sausage
- 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon of dried basil
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 jar of marinara sauce
Directions :
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Cook the manicotti pasta according to the package instructions. Make sure not to overcook the pasta as it will continue to cook in the oven.
3. In a separate pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage to the pan and cook until it is browned and cooked through.
4. Season the cooked sausage with Italian seasoning, dried basil, and garlic powder. Stir to evenly distribute the seasoning.
5. Pour the jar of marinara sauce into the pan with the cooked sausage. Let it simmer for a few minutes until heated through.
6. In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of the sausage and marinara mixture on the bottom.
7. Take each cooked manicotti shell and fill it with the sausage mixture. You can use a spoon or your fingers to stuff the filling into the pasta shells.
8. Place the filled manicotti shells in the baking dish on top of the layer of sauce. Continue until all the shells are filled and placed in the dish.
9. Pour the remaining sausage and marinara mixture over the top of the filled manicotti shells. Make sure to cover all the shells with the sauce.
10. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
11. Cover the baking dish with foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 20 minutes.
12. After 20 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
13. Once done, remove the baking dish from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
14. Serve the delicious sausage manicotti bake hot and enjoy! You can garnish with additional dried herbs or parmesan cheese if desired.
